Massage Therapy Program
Program Goal
MTTI-WellSpring's Massage Therapy Program, which is 750 clock hours in length and earns 37 semester credits, is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in theory, technique and business practices. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam and for licensing in Missouri and most other states and municipalities.
The most unique feature of the Program is the increased emphasis on medical massage, and the incorporation of a basic wellness curriculum. As the massage profession evolves, practitioners are increasingly called upon to assist with pain management, injury rehabilitation and surgical recovery issues. As a result, our Program places increased emphasis on pathology, assessment and treatment of these conditions through a variety of neuromuscular massage techniques.
Practitioners also find that clients are increasingly seeking general guidance about how to maintain a healthier lifestyle, and how to accomplish this more naturally. Our program prepares practitioners to provide this guidance with the inclusion of training on general wellness, nutrition and lifestyle management skills, as well as imparting the knowledge of when to refer a client to a specialist in these fields.
Type of Instruction
Instruction consists of lecture and hands-on technique work. Classes are interactive. Instructors use class discussions, activities, PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, and practice time as teaching tools.
Employment Potential
A student completing this program can expect to achieve basic levels of competence suitable for most entry-level jobs in a wide variety of employment situations, including spas and resorts, salons, hospitals, wellness centers, medical offices, health clubs, private practice and much more.
